The Maltese: A Legacy of Elegance and Devotion
A Status Symbol of the Ancient World
In Ancient Rome, the Maltese was far more than a companion — it was a symbol of prestige. Admired by philosophers, adored by noblewomen, and treasured by emperors, this tiny white dog represented luxury, refinement, and exquisite taste. For nearly three centuries, owning a Maltese signaled status and sophistication.
They were not simply pets; they were living jewels, carried in the arms of society's elite. The Maltese was a constant companion in marble halls and lush gardens, a soft, white presence against the grandeur of empire.

Beloved by Queens and Conquerors
History whispers stories of the Maltese at the feet of greatness. Legend says Mary, Queen of Scots, hid her Maltese beneath her skirts on the day of her execution, finding comfort in her loyal companion until the very end.
After conquering Malta, Napoleon Bonaparte reportedly promised to bring a Maltese back to his beloved Joséphine. These little dogs were the silent companions of queens, emperors, and conquerors — witnesses to history's grandest moments, offering unconditional love amidst power and politics.

The Maltese traveled through history in the arms of royalty and the hearts of artists. From medieval courts to Renaissance palaces, they maintained their status as the ultimate companion dog — small enough to carry, elegant enough to impress, and devoted enough to cherish.
Born to Be Close
Originating in the Mediterranean region and closely linked to the island of Malta, the Maltese was never bred to hunt or herd. Its purpose was intimacy. A devoted shadow, a heartbeat beside its human.
With its flowing white coat and bright, intelligent eyes, the breed quickly became a favorite in palaces, libraries, and quiet chambers where companionship mattered more than size. The Maltese was bred for one thing: to love and be loved.

A Survivor Through Time
When the Roman Empire fell, the Maltese endured. Traded across continents, surviving wars, plagues, and shifting civilizations, this small dog never lost its place beside humanity.
From royal courts to modern homes, it carried forward the same spirit — affectionate, curious, loyal, and confidently present. Through the Renaissance, the Age of Exploration, and into the modern era, the Maltese adapted while maintaining its essential character: a companion first and always.

Elegance Meets Devotion
Today, the Maltese remains a perfect balance of grace and warmth. A dog that trots as if it owns the world, then curls into your arms as though it was made for home. Soft. Spirited. Seriously loyal.
Not just a pretty face — but a pocket-sized best friend, born from history, living for love.
The Maltese continues to capture hearts with its combination of beauty and devotion. Whether in a bustling city apartment or a quiet country home, this ancient breed brings centuries of companionship into modern life.
At the end of 2023, I had lost everything. Around that time, my cousin—someone very close to me, whom I deeply loved—passed away. I also left a toxic work environment. I was in a very dark place.
One night, at 4 a.m., a simple video appeared, saying that sometimes life breaks what no longer fits us—not to destroy us, but to guide us toward what we truly meant to become. In that moment, a small light turned on inside me. I knew I had to create something of my own.
And the name arrived softly, as if it had always been waiting: Ké-mel.
As a teenager, I suffered from bullying through my last name. "Kemel", in Portuguese, when separated into syllables, sounds like "Qué mel" an informal way of saying "Quer mel"—"Do you want honey?" They used it to mock me. Bullying is not "just a phase." It is serious, and it leaves lasting marks.
Listen to your children. Believe them. Protect them. I am completely against any form of bullying.
